GSMF International is a Ghanaian non-profit organisation headquartered in the Republic
of Ghana. Incorporated in 1993, GSMF grew out of a social marketing programme supported
by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under a bilateral
agreement with the Government of Ghana. This programme began in 1985 and was managed
by the Washington D.C.-based Futures Group International.
GSMF launched the Mineshield programme in May 2004 at the Ashanti Goldfields Mine in Iduapriem, Tarkwa. Mineshield is an HIV/AIDS prevention programme targeted at the mining industry. Present at the launch were all Peer Educators from seven (7) mines that are currently enrolled in the programme.There were representatives from other mining companies who are yet to join Mineshield. readmore »
